Original dial with copper mirrored post-deco numerals

Blued steel leaf hands with heavy patina having turned almost charcoal - the subsidiary moonphase red hand appears to be the original paint with just some slight loss on the centre staff

Subsidiary moonphase dial is original to the watch with the unmistakably cheery Universal Geneve smile in the factory design that only this revered titan of mid century knew how - a true joy

The diminutive bezel and "all dial" configuration results in the 33 mm case wearing far larger than one would expect - set off by a period correct Torres honey tan calf strap with box stitch coming in at 16 mm between the lugs

The watch has not been serviced, but has been inspected and regulated by our trusted watchmaker and is keeping excellent time, with all recessed calendar and moonphase pushers working as they should

Caseback engraving clear and legible, the lug chamfers also retain their appealing subtle rake which evoke the great Borgel

This is a rare watch by any standards, and all the more significant to find in such original condition - Universal Geneve has always been a collectors watch, and thankfully is now gaining the recognition it has for so long richly deserved - an elegant and uncommon addition to collections both new and established
