The Rolex reference 6075 was introduced to the world in the early 1950s, and had a short run of just a few years before the now synonymous "Datejust" would begin to adorn the dial - here is a genuinely rare watch, in even more uncommonly well preserved conditions

As the Rolex connoisseur and revered collector Edmond Saran deftly puts it, "the ref. 6075 is the last ‘old school’ Datejust or Ovettone, and one of the most beautiful early Rolex date-justs" - he also points us to the fact that "it is the last Rolex not to carry the name Datejust on the dial! Everything after this reference would appear more modern and the dial configuration completely different in many ways."

Mr Saran is quite right, this is a watch from another era altogether, one that has neither been replicated nor emulated since - consider early era Rolex Magic in A Bottle - I know I do

The example here is in fantastically well preserved and original condition, with extremely uncommon handset featuring distinctive cut-off-dauphine style hour hand

The radium hands and dial match in their tone, and react under the geiger counter confirming untouched lume

Correct "Swiss Made" dial, with radically cool typography on the numerals

The original bracelet whilst slightly stretched, remains long and the clasp shuts firmly
